SCOPE OF EXPERIENCE
Catherine joined NAI Earle Furman in 2022 as a Senior Financial Analyst. In this role, she advances the objectives of Appian Investments via financial analysis of prospective development and acquisition opportunities and the performance of existing assets. Catherine's responsibilities include preparing and presenting information for investors and stakeholders, as well as supporting the day-to-day and long-term portfolio needs to maximize outcomes and plan for future growth.
BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE
Catherine is a graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. Prior to joining NAI Earle Furman, Catherine worked as a financial analyst for over five years at OTO Development, a hotel development, and hospitality management company based in Spartanburg, S.C. with a diverse national portfolio of Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt properties.
Ty Underwood
Chief Investment Officer and Managing Principal
SCOPE OF EXPERIENCE
Ty Underwood serves as Chief Investment Officer and Managing Principal at Appian Investments, where he leads the firm’s investment platform, strategic growth initiatives, and capital formation efforts. With more than 25 years of leadership experience across investment, development, acquisitions, dispositions, brokerage, capital markets, and asset management, Ty has been directly involved in more than $4 billion in real estate transactions throughout his career.
BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE
Prior to joining Appian, Ty served as Chief Strategy Officer and Managing Principal at AmCap Incorporated, where he oversaw platform expansion, investment strategy, and institutional capital relationships. Before that, he was CEO of Atlas Retail Capital and Atlas Interests, leading acquisition, development, and portfolio-level initiatives across multiple growth markets.
Earlier in his career, Ty held senior positions with NAI Global and NAI Brannen Goddard in New York and Atlanta, ultimately becoming a Senior Vice President/ Senior Director and founding member of NAI Global’s Institutional Services Group (ISG). In these roles, he led both private and institutional projects across the U.S. and internationally, including China, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Europe, and Malaysia. He began his career in the Investment Properties Group at CBRE as a Senior Associate.
Ty earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Finance from the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business, followed by an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Real Estate from Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business, where he also served on the advisory board.
